Pool time

Central Texas basically has two seasons...hot and not so hot.  The hot season generally starts sometime in May and ends around Halloween.  Here in Austin, we may have five months of hot weather, but it's totally worth it to enjoy 60's, 70's and 80's during most of the fall, winter and spring.

Yesterday, the temperature was 100 degrees, a new record.  It was the first time we hit 100 this year.  What does one do on a 100-degree day?  Go to the pool, of course!  I didn't take Juliet to the pool last summer at all because she was too little.  She turned 4 months old on August 30, so I didn't feel comfortable putting sunscreen on her and bringing her out in the sun.  Now, she's almost 13 months old...the perfect age for the pool.

Juliet woke from her afternoon nap at 3:30.  I put her in a swimsuit (she's wearing an 18 mo. swimsuit by the way...she's tall), slathered her with sunscreen and donned her summer hat.  Then we waited for daddy to get home.

Juliet LOVED the water.  There were squeals of delight, splish-splashes, flailing limbs, laughter and smiles.  She was born to be in the water.  She even tried to put her face in a couple of times, much to the dismay of Mommy and Daddy.

We stayed at the pool for a little over an hour.  It was a complete success...looks like we'll be making many more trips this summer!
"Ready for the pool, Mommy!"
