As you can see in this photo, the railing balusters were quite wide. There would be nothing to keep our daughter from slipping through the bars and possibly falling to the first level of the house. Needless to say, we knew if we bought this house, that would be one of the first things we'd need to fix.
This past weekend, my husband began the task of fixing the stair railing. First, we had to find a place to buy all the equipment to redo the railing. It's expensive! But finally, we found a local warehouse that sells various construction items. We were able to buy all the equipment to create our new railing for about $500. After removing the old railing, hubster had to stain the handrail and the wooden posts.

Then the real work began. Yesterday, while taking a personal day to work on the project, hubster got a lot accomplished! First, he was able to measure and cut the wooden posts. He also was able to drill holes for the metal balusters along the entire top portion of the railing that lines the hallway. In addition, he got one section of the railing completely finished.

He was able to complete the flat portions of the railing. He will still need to finish the railing that runs along the stair case. Here are some photos of his finished product.
It looks so good! I love it! Hubster really did a good job. It was a lot of work for him, and he still has a small part to complete, but it looks great. Plus, he got to buy a nice, new Dewalt drill and lots of new accessories to go with it...which he loves.
Besides the stair railing, we also finished Juliet's room. It turned out really pretty. I love the color! I can't believe we are moving in just 3 days...I can't wait!
